Beyond Games has developed "Prophet" and "Messiah", its own cross platform development API's similar in concept to Renderware and Havok.

Prophet has been licensed out to numerous developers over the year and has been used in over fifty published Sku's to date.

Both Prophet and Messiah are an object orientated C++ software toolkit designed for creating real-time games and other multi-media products for the following platforms:

  • Microsoft XBOX 360
  • Sony Playstation 3 (Under development)
  • Sony Playstation 2
  • Sony PSP
  • Nintendo Wii
  • Nintendo DS and DSi
  • Nintendo Game Cube
  • Nintendo Game Boy Advance (Not cross platform compatible)
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows XP and 2000
  • Windows 95, 98 and Millenium Edition
  • Windows CE

The system allows the users to develop products on the PC and then with minimal work create the equivalent product on any of the supported platforms. "Prophet" is a true multi platform development environment when all the target platforms are taken into consideration.

The API's provide capabilities beyond normal rendering libraries, while still allowing access to base-level graphics API's and hardware. The engine is general-purpose and can be used on a wide variety of titles.

The build tools associated with "Prophet" format the necessary graphics (Described by Script languages) into a proprietary file format that the relevant interfaces in "Prophet" can load and use. These output files can be used on any of the platforms supported. Consequently only one set of assets needs to be built for all versions. However, platform specifics can be added to take advantage of specific platform features. The build tools currently support Light Wave and 3D Studio Max.

Prophet has been designed and programmed so that it can be expanded on from either the application and / or the library side. This ensures that the development team is in full control and is not restricted in any way when using "Prophet" to develop products.

After many years of using commercially available physics libraries, Beyond Games decided to develop "Messiah" for use in game development. Only the most up to date and high performance methods have been used in Messiah making it ideal for gaming environments where speed is of the essence.

Key features of Messiah:

  • GJK (Gilbert-Johnson-Keerthi) distance algorithm
  • Broadphase uses multi axis SAP.
  • Continuous collision detection interface
  • Discreet collision detection interface
  • Supports primitives including Trimesh, Polygons, Planes, Rays, Ray Segments, OBB's, Capsules, Cylinders, Spheres and complex polyhedrons
  • Spatial hierarchy including K-d Tree, BSP Tree, Octree and Quadtree.
  • Articulated rigid body dynamics
  • Fluid dynamics (Buoyancy)
  • Sequential Impulse Solver
  • Stable time based integrator
  • Joint support between rigid and static bodies
  • Fully featured contact and friction model
